Eat fish. It is good for your health. Researchers found that fish are rich sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which is good for your health. Fish can keep your heart healthy and protect your mind healthy too. Fish reduce your chance of heart attacks and increase your IQ. The recommendation for reaping these benefits is to eat two servings of seafood per week. However, the American still eat the red meat seven times more than fish. Here are the reasons for you to increase the amount of fish servings in your diets.

Fish Keep Your Heart Healthy

Medical researchers around the world find that the average amount of fish consumption can dramatically decrease your risk of fatal heart attacks. They found that people who eat fish two times a week reduce their risk of lethal heart attacks.

Fish oil is naturally the richest source of omega-3 fatty acids which helps stable your heart rhythm and reduces artery-clogging triglycerides. Triglyceride is a fat that contains three fatty acids linked to one glycerol molecule. It appears to cool persistent inflammation in the arteries. It also produces a huge drop in blood pressure. People who eat fish reduce their risk of suffering a stroke.

Fish also help your brain. Studies have showed evidences of omega-3 fatty acids help the brain with its normal daily functions. The National Institutes of Health found that the children who were born to mothers who ate more fish scored higher on IQ test. Another study found that young men who ate fish more than once a week also scored higher on IQ test than the ones that do not eat fish. Study found that fish eaters seem to be unlikely to develop dementia in their old age. Dementia is a severe impairment or loss of intellectual capacity and personality integration, due to the loss of or damage to neurons in the brain.

Researchers also indicate that people who are taking fish oil regularly are reducing their chance to be depressed. They think that may be omega-3 fatty acids raise the levels of serotonin and dopamine. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, synthesized from the amino acid tryptophan that functions in the central nervous system.  Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that is a catecholamine, like epinephrine and norepinephrine. These are the two brain chemicals that are thought to play a role in depression. Omega-3 fatty acids also seem to reduce the levels of brain chemicals that make you feels anxious and stressed-out. However, it was found that fish oil supplements do not help depression heart patients.

 

There will be more benefits reported as scientists are studying whether fish help to prevent and are used to treat other disorders. There are studies from asthma to infertility will bring out more advantages in eating fish.

Some people do not eat fish. I hope if they aware of the benefits they will include fish in their diets.
